3D Scanning

I taught myself how to use an Artec Eva 3D Scanner at University. I learnt how to scan objects such as my bicycle which can be reverse engineered into a CAD model or used to produce rendered Images.

3D Scan of Bicycle

1. Scanning the object from multiple directions.

4. Fusing scans into a single model.

2. Aligning the scans.

3. Erasing the floor and any outliers.

5. Fixing any holes in the model.

6. Applying the final texture from the scans.

7. Creating a rendered image of the model.

It was found that the scanner was unable to pick up the fine details such as the wheel spokes and brake wires.

This was due to the complex geometry, gaps in the geometry, reflective materials and sub optimal lighting conidtions.
